Anchorage Transfer Driver

Position Summary

The role of the Anchorage Transfer Driver is to provide safe transportation for guests and their luggage pre and post tour between their lodging and the Airport. Transfer Drivers are responsible for all aspects involving the operation of the motorcoach or van. Transfer Drivers may also be responsible for safe transportation to and from the cruise ship terminal as well as other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A Transfer Driver's duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the safe operation of the motorcoach or van
  • Provide safety information to guests in regards to the motorcoach or van and ensure the safety of all passengers
  • Loading and unloading luggage from the motorcoach or van
  • Assisting Tour Directors by sharing regional specific commentary with tour guests
  • Assisting guests as they embark and disembark the motorcoach or van
  • Maintaining all required Department of Transportation paperwork on a daily basis, including Vehicle Inspection Report and Driver Log Book
  • Maintain interior/exterior cleanliness of motorcoach or van, including restrooms
  • Perform maintenance on the motorcoach or van while on the road away from Operations staff
  • The drivers' primary responsibility is SAFETY. Drivers are required to be punctual and professional
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by Operations staff

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for a Transfer Driver position:

  • 21 years of age or older by May 1 of the year for which applying
  • Successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • Must be willing to submit to pre-employment, random, post-accident, and just cause drug & alcohol testing
  • Possess a valid state commercial drivers license.
  • Must be able to handle baggage and able to lift 50 - 75 pounds repeatedly
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or able to provide verification of authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Successfully complete a driver training program and pass all associated tests
  • Possess knowledge and thorough understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • A current Commercial Drivers License (Class B) with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements is required
  • A minimum of 2 years motorcoach driving experience in Alaska is preferred




Applicants who have received any of the following violations within the previous 3 years will be disqualified:

  • Driving 15 mph or more over the posted speed limit
  • Following vehicle ahead too closely
  • Improper or erratic lane change
  • Reckless driving
  • A violation arising in connection with a fatal accident (other than a parking violation)


Cannot have the following convictions:

  • DWI or DUI
  • Refusal to undergo such testing as required by any State or jurisdiction
  • More than 1 moving violation within the previous 2 years
  • Leaving the scene of an accident
  • Commission of a felony


    This position pays $15/hour plus gratuities
