Position Summary – Denali Discovery Center Assistant
The Otto Lake Assistant Manager oversees the successful execution of all events and presentations scheduled at the Denali Discovery Center, Premier Alaska Tour’s property overlooking beautiful Otto Lake.
Primary/Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assists in management of all events throughout the summer at the Denali Discovery Center.
- Maintains schedules, ensuring events stay within time parameters.
- Coordinates with Tour Directors and Drivers to confirm arrival times and needs & discuss any changes.
- Communicates with the Presentation expert on timing and needs.
- Assists in setup and clean-up of events.
- Assists in creating food displays (charcuterie) for guest receptions.
- Serves beverages during presentations.
- Attends and monitors events and activities in group space as scheduled.
- Responds to requests from Tour Directors, Drivers, and Guests with speed and positivity.
- Assists in creation of boxed lunches for tour groups.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Reports to Denali Discovery Center Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Otto Lake/Healy Manager must meet the following criteria in order to be considered as an applicant:
- A US citizen or can provide verification of authorization to work in the US.
- 21 years of age at start of employment
- Must be available to work from May through mid-September in Healy, Alaska.
- Must be available to work early morning, late evening and/or weekend shifts.
- Must provide a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record that meets PAT standards. Will need to complete van training program.
- Will need to get TAPS certified and secure a Food Handlers Card.
- Maintain a professional, flexible, can-do level of service.
- Must have excellent guest service skills with the ability to communicate effectively, working with guests from across the globe.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions as well as stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs and uneven surfaces, bend, stoop, squat, and kneel.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to jump in and perform tasks beyond the job description.
- Must be comfortable working both independently and in a group setting.
Wages:
$18.00 – $20.00 Per Hour
Starting wage is dependent on experience.
Housing is included.
